When applying for a mainland licence in Dubai you must do so through the Dubai Economic Department.
However, before commencing any business activities, certain legal prerequisites must be met to acquire a trade licence in the UAE.
These include identifying the business category as either professional, commercial, or industrial, determining the type of business activity, ascertaining the legal structure of the business entity, and selecting a trade name.
The registration of the trade name is carried out by the local department of economic development, while the Ministry of Economy takes care of the registration of the trademark if applicable.
Additionally, depending on the legal form of the business, it may be necessary to complete and sign either a Memorandum of Association (MoA) or a Local Service Agent Agreement (LSA). The MoA is mandatory for Limited Partnership, Public Joint Stock Company (PJSC), Limited Liability Company (LLC), and Private Joint Stock Company (PrJSC).
